Minor Changes to Photos

Today I updated the photos on the website and added reception photos. You may notice a different order, or some pictures that weren't there before or are now missing. This is due to some backend changes and rating I am doing on the entire photo collection. There are now more than 1000 photos from the wedding and honeymoon. There will be additional changes in the coming days as i continue to tweak my photo collection. My entire collection is over 8500 strong now and needs some serious pruning.
Check-Out Time

Well, the honeymoon is quickly drawing to a close. We have to check-out at noon, although we don't have a flight till 4:40. At least the flight home is easier this time, we ride a 757 all the way and don't have to get off when we land in San Jaun. Coming here we had to do the San Juan Sprint, running an entire airport in just a few minutes.

Day Seven: Day Sail
11/13/2006 08:35 PM Filed in: Honeymoon
Today we were very excited, our second and last voyage on the water. This is the one I was really looking forward to and i was hoping i would not be disappointed. I will save you the anticipation, it was fantastic. The weather was a little cloudy, but we were the only two on board and the trip was just devine.
We woke up later than usual, both of us sleeping till 8:00. Since we had to be at the dock by 9:30, we had awakened a little late, but we knew we could make it on time. We both ate, dressed and worked in the sunscreen and made our way out the door by 9:00. The office called us a taxi, it turned out to be our friend Stanely, and we arrived in Redhook about 9:15. As we walked around the dock heading towards the flagpole we were told to go to, the captain called out to us "Mr. & Mrs. Spare?" Well, the day didn't start off perfect, but I've had my last name butchered worse. Captain Pat introduced himself and told us that we would be having a private charter today, only the two of us. While that isn't good for the Captain, it is great for us. Read More...

Day Six: Tour of Westin St. John

Today we did some dreaming. We love it here at St. Thomas and adore St. John. As I mentioned yesterday while we were getting information on tours of St. John, we were asked if we might be interested in a 90 minute presentation by the Westin on a better way to vacation. We are always looking for better ways to vacation, so the easy answer was yes. When she told us the Westin would give us some money to use in the local shops, well, we were sold. We made our arrangements yesterday and today we dreamed a little. Read More...
Day Five: Trip to St. John
11/13/2006 08:34 PM Filed in: Honeymoon
Today we decided to head over to St. John Island which is located about 20 minutes by boat from Redhook, St. Thomas. St. John is a much smaller island with a population well below that of St. Thomas. The island is a mixture of residences, boutique shops and resorts; but more than half of the island is dedicated to the National Park Service. This means that most of the island is reachable only on foot. It is an increadibly beautiful place and surprisingly quiet when compared to St. Thomas, or just about any other place.
It didn't take Tracy and I long to decide we loved St. John and that if when we come back to this part of the Virgin Islands we want to stay at one of the resorts on St. John. It is definitely the place to go if you want to relax, but still have access to modern conveniences; including shopping.
The shopping is pretty good too. Not price wise mind you, i can't say I saw many great deal; but the shops are very nice. This isn't a place for power shopping, but more for boutique window shopping. We both had a lot of fun just checking out all of the stores, and I think we did see each and every one of them.
Before we left we ran into the tourist information center which is paid for by the Westin St. John. in talking to concierge we were given the opportunity to return tomorrow to see the Westin St. John time shares. We aren't ready to invest in such a vacation opportunity, but they offered us a bribe (a.k.a. money) to take 90 minutes out of our honeymoon. Enough money that we could get Tracy something nice from one of the many boutiques on the island.
When we got home, we were ready to just chill and do some relaxing. We still have several days left of our honeymoon, but we can feel the end nearing. We are also excited about Monday's day sail. That should be very relaxing and exciting. Tracy has never been sailing either, and it's a chance to do some more snorkling. We even got underwater cameras today so we can take some photos. I don't know what they cost back home, but here we made $24 each. Ouch! That's what we get for not planning ahead.
